Video Contest

The 13th IEEE International Conference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing (UIC 2016) invites submission of video for video contest.

  Ubiquitous Intelligent Computing (UIC) and Internet-of-Things have brought us a vision that smart (physical, cyber, cyber-physical) things including humans and objects are pervasive and can be interconnected, inter-sensing, interacting, inter-processing, inter-understanding, and inter-serving, which is changing our world and reshaping our lives. With new technologies like wearable computing, flexible electronics, and biological-machine intelligence, many people are talking about the vision of a smart world where people and machine coexist in environments such as a smart car, smart home, smart office and smart city.

  The rapid development of ubiquitous intelligence also raises new demands and challenges. Theories and techniques which focus on discovering and fulfilling user's needs such as context-aware computing become increasingly popular and have practical significance. In the meantime, security of ubiquitous computing systems can not be ignored. Ubiquitous intelligent device, such as wearable devices and smart phones, poses new threats to individual privacy.

  The IEEE Smart World Creative Video Contest welcomes the contribution of videos illustrating inspiring visions of future smart worlds, our smart lives, and smart human-machine and human-robot interaction and applications that are grounded in today's technical reality, that make full use of your imagination and creation to demonstrate your creative ideas, designs, applications, and systems. The content within the video must be related to ubiquitous computing, smart objects and interactions, smart robots and interactions, smart systems and services, smart environments and applications, social computing and privacy, ubiquitous system security, context-aware computing, or other vital issues related to ubiquitous intelligence. The video can demonstrate a concept within the smart world, a scenario explaining how users interact within the smart world, a design of ubiquitous computing system or applications, description of potential issues in existing techniques, solutions enhancing security of privacy protection in ubiquitous intelligence, etc.

  The IEEE Smart World Creative Video Contest submission should include:

* A cover page including video title , authors, affiliation, and abstract about the description of the video.

* A self-explanatory video: The video should not require the viewer to read the abstract and provide audio descriptions of key visual content. The content of the video can use any proper form: a narrated presentation, short dramatic film, animation, etc.

  The video should adhere to these guidelines:

* Length: Up to 7 minutes

* Resolution: HD (1920x1080), or SD (1280x720)

* Format: AVI, WMV, MOV, MP4

* Language: English

  We welcome video submissions from at home and abroad, and from any academic, business, education and government circles to take part in the video contest. Please submit your video in English that conforms to the following specifications to uic2016video@gmail.com.

* New Submission Deadline: April 8, 2016

* Notification of Acceptance: April 22, 2016

  The contest will have two phases.

  First, videos will be evaluated primarily on the quality of content, the clarity of presentation, quality of production, creativity, attendee interest and technical and research relevance to UIC'16.

  Second, the accepted videos will be presented in at the conference, where each author will be given 1 minute to address the highlights of the video to be presented. Then, the conference attendees will vote for the video contest winner. We set up the following awards:

* Best Video Award

* Best Creativity Award (for the one with most creative idea or thought)

* Best Technology Award (for the one with best description of ubiquitous intelligence computing systems, devices or applications)

* Best Practice Award (for the one with description of the most feasible project)

  The accepted videos, with an extended abstract of 4-6 pages, will be recommended to a special issue of Science China.

  We look forward to your videos and good luck!
